Key Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for ensuring all works are completed in full compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures
  • Support a culture which learns from incidents, near misses and mistakes, taking appropriate remedial action and holding people accountable when required to ensure that the Company meets its objectives
  • Lead on the management of projects, managing site teams and contractors and ensuring all works are managed in accordance with the contract
  • Prepare and update quality, environmental and construction phase plans
  • Write and update risk assessments and method statements
  • Plan, measure, monitor and review progress through the project’s lifespan to ensure compliance with budget and programme
  • Prepare progress reports in line with management/contract requirements
  • Work closely with the Commercial team and input into monthly financial reports (including CVRs) and budget forecasts
  • Maintain good relationships with project stakeholders
  • Bringing a safety-first attitude that is fundamental to all operations
  • Interpret and interrogate engineering drawings and specifications to ensure the works are constructed accurately and in accordance with client requirements
  • Identify risk in sufficient time to allow for the implementation of mitigation measures
  • Manage site-level change including Early Warning Notifications and Compensation Events
  • Forecast plant, labour, subcontract and material resource requirements and ensure they are available in a timely manner to meet the project programme
  • Communicate clearly and liaise with others to build good relationships and demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Take a teamwork-based approach to problem solving and operational tasks
  • Work collaboratively to administer the contract
  • Identify and implement the required environmental protection measures
  • Build a strong team work ethic and always work to enhance the Company name
  • Provide pre-contract advice on programme, buildability & risks

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering
  • Chartered or Incorporated Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (or commitment to work towards)
  • SMSTS
  • A strong track record of delivering projects as a Project Manager/Site Agent within the civil engineering industry.
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Strong management skills and the ability to mentor and support the team
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and negotiation skills
  • Commercially astute
  • Able to interact confidently and effectively with the wider team and stakeholders
  • A working knowledge of the different standard forms of contracts, particularly NEC3 and NEC4
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) and Microsoft Project
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Director, day-to-day responsibilities will include (not exhaustive):

  • Provide health and safety leadership to operational delivery teams
  • Identify potential hazards on site
  • Input into the preparation of RAMS
  • Ensuring all plant and small tools are adequately maintained before use
  • Monitoring the performance on site
  • Identifying any potential improvements on site
  • Be accountable for ensuring the works are completed safely and that the workforce have sufficient and correct information in relation to specification, workmanship and finish
  • Basic progress reporting via site diaries
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Company’s policies
  • Bringing a safety- first attitude
  • Ensuring task outputs are achieved on site in accordance with the programme

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • SMSTS
  • Computer literate
  • Track record of delivery as a Site Manager/General Foreman
  • Strong leadership skills
  • A good working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation
  • An understanding of contract documents, construction tolerances and test plans
  • Full UK Driving Licence
